A children's residential care edition of core safeguarding training, grounding every principle in the realities of residential practice: recognising abuse and neglect, responding to disclosures, professional curiosity, exploitation, missing episodes, online risk, allegations, and accurate recording and escalation.
Aligned with Aligned with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 protection of children standard, the DfE quality standards guidance, and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023. and legislation including Children Act 1989 and The Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, this course helps learners build confidence, strengthen judgement, and apply safer day-to-day practice.

Explain what safeguarding means in a residential childcare context and describe the professional duty to protect children.
Recognise indicators of abuse and neglect, and respond appropriately to a disclosure.
Apply professional curiosity to changes in behaviour, and recognise child-on-child harm, exploitation, missing episodes, and online risk.
Respond correctly to an allegation against an adult, and record and escalate safeguarding concerns accurately.
A young person discloses something concerning to a keyworker mid-conversation, in an unplanned moment during an everyday activity.
A staff member notices an unexplained injury and an inconsistent explanation from a young person.
A young person returns from being missing overnight with unexplained money and new belongings.
A low-level concern arises about a staff member's behaviour that does not meet the threshold of a formal allegation but still needs to be recorded and considered.
